Traxys Signs Offtake MOU for Kasiya Graphite
Traxys is pleased to announce the signing of a non‑binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Sovereign Metals Limited to market graphite from the Kasiya Rutile‑Graphite Project in Malawi.
The agreement strengthens Traxys’ role in global critical-mineral supply chains, beginning with approximately 40,000 tonnes per annum of graphite concentrate during Stage 1, with potential expansion to 80,000 tonnes per annum as the project grows. The initial focus is on high‑value flake graphite for refractory applications and future opportunities in battery-anode markets.
This collaboration aligns strongly with Traxys’ appointment as one of only three trading houses selected by the U.S. Government to procure critical minerals for the newly launched US$12 billion Project Vault, the United States’ Strategic Critical Minerals Reserve initiative. Graphite is formally designated as a U.S. Critical Mineral, reflecting its essential role in both industrial and emerging technologies, and the need to reduce reliance on heavily concentrated supply sources.
Mark Kristoff, CEO of Traxys, commented on the signing: “Traxys is pleased to support Sovereign Metals as they advance the globally significant Kasiya Project. Our involvement reflects our commitment to enhancing the resilience of critical mineral supply chains and ensuring secure access for industrial partners and government programs alike.”
